19 year old Laura Byrne is an Online Journalist and founder of music and entertainment blog, The Celeb Culture.

She shares her tips on setting up your own website, and talks about the best bits of her career so far.

#HowTo… become an Online Journalist:

Have a clear focus on what you want to write about and who you are writing for. Choose an appropriate name for your website as that is going to be a big part of its identity. Also set up social networks as it’s important to interact with your readers. Finally make sure you’re passionate, as that is going to be your driving force.

#ADayInTheLife..of an Online Journalist:

For me it all depends on the content I am covering. If there is an US music award show on, then I will stay up to cover it. Usually half the day is spent writing content while the other half is getting that content noticed. I spend a lot of time going through emails from PR companies as well as sending out emails to new ones. Persistence is key when trying to get your website noticed.

#BestExperience so far:

I have had so many little milestones that have made me smile. Getting to 10K followers on twitter and reaching a steady stream of readers each month have all been amazing. Also getting good feedback from my readers makes all the hard work worth it.

#CringeMoment

Last summer I got the opportunity to attend my first big festival as a journalist. During the festival I had the chance to interview Union J. The interview went extremely well and I couldn’t wait to share it. Due to my inexperience with technology I didn’t download the file correctly. Let’s just say I learnt several important lessons that day.
